. . . okay, fine . . .
. . . i give up . . .
. . . i'm awake . . .
. . . and not to sound ungrateful or anything . . .
. . . but the next time we have a thunderstorm . . .
. . . could it please begin around six in the morning . . .
. . . instead of four-ish? . . .
. . . that'd be a lot more convenient for me . . .
. . . and where's maria's room when i need it, anyway? . . .
. . . scary . . .
{side note: back in the day, our first child to "von trapp"
was almost always amber ~ the one who can't hear.
she was far more sensitive to light than the others were to sound.
flashes of lightning woke her out of sound sleep
way before claps of thunder would wake the others.
now you know.}

When I saw this post, and the picture, I couldn't believe it. I was picturing this exact scene from the movie at about 4:30, and singing "Raindrops on Roses"...
after putting griffen back to bed for the third time - i couldn't stop singing (in my head) garth brooks the thunder rolls... and then hope that it would roll away!
I just had to verify with my husband that there was a thunderstorm at 4:00 a.m. I totally missed it! He actually got up and went outside to watch it. Apparently I sleep very soundly (see my post on dixon sleep genes..hahaha!)
I love your blog!!!
(You don't know me, I just stalk your blog from time to time)...but when I read this I had to comment because that is the EXACT same thing I was thinking!! I ended up with two kids in my bed and unable to sleep (not because of them, but because it was SO loud)!! ps. I am making the BBQ chicken salad for dinner tongiht--can't wait!!!
...and i thought it was mike jones' snoring again...
actually it was SO loud. summers in AZ! luv the post. you're the coolest!
You know...in Oklahoma thunderstorms are FREQUENT! I've decided that if someone would ever invent a king size bed with a trundle, they'd be rich! Kids come in....pull out the bed (which would already be made so you don't have to stumble around to make them a bed on the floor) and kids go back to sleep!
There was a thunderstorm last night?
I laughed out loud reading this because I sooooooo felt the same way! I was thinking of this same part in the movie. So funny. I was just praying the electricity didn't go out for goodness forbid I loose my precious A/C. Love, Cam
We lost our A/C for two hours....I love the rain...and how interesting about Amber....
