. . . see that clock? . . .
. . . it hangs in
the hall bathroom . . .
. . . the kids' bathroom . . .
{only there're no kids here any more}
. . . that clock always tells me
it's 9:25 . . .
. . . twice a day
it's exactly right . . .
. . . we've been using
this bathroom lately . . .
. . . since ours is
still a construction zone . . .
. . . and i like to know
what time it is
when i'm drying my hair . . .
. . . here's a closeup
of the problem . . .
. . . i'm sure it's from
all the long showers drew
~ the clean freak ~
took in here back in the day . . .
. . . but the clock face
{it's just paper}
succombed to all that steam
and started to curl . . .
. . . see it? . . .
. . . the teensy little motor
is way too weak
to turn the hands of the clock
past the high spots on the face . . .
. . . so i decided to go all
tim the toolman taylor . . .
. . . what did i have to lose? . . .
. . . i loosened
those microscopic nuts . . .
. . . took off the back
and the glass . . .
. . . and used my trusty
purple elmer's glue stick
to adhere
around the circumference
of the face . . .
. . . i reset the time . . .
. . . popped in a new battery . . .
. . . hung it back up . . .
. . . and hold on . . .
. . . be right back . . .
. . . had to run and make sure . . .
. . . but
~ at 1:14 ~
so far so good . . .
. . . it takes a lickin'
and keeps on tickin' . . .
