. . . easter parade . . .

. . . this post that started out as
an easter retrospective . . .
. . . quickly turned into a tribute to:
"our mom spent a lot of time
trying to find matching outfits for us"
. . . no matter the season/holiday/time of year . . .

. . . this photo hung in our entryway for a long time . . .
. . . because of the extreme cuteness . . .
{and penny loafers}
. . . easter circa 1992 . . .

. . . next up ~ christmas 1989 . . .
. . . raffia on a christmas tree
was never a good idea . . .
. . . but candy canes on little girls' tights rocked . . .

. . . two different looks of christmas 1987 . . .
. . . simply "coordinating" outfits vs . . .
. . . exact "matchy~matchy" . . .
. . . make that raffia on a christmas tree
AND perms were never a good idea . . .

. . . easter 1988 . . .
. . . even cousin meagan wore blue . . .

. . . drew was happy
to have his gymboree outfit serve as
the inspiration for this color scheme . . .
. . . fall 1990 . . .
. . . bangs to heaven and acid washed denim
were probably
never a great idea either . . .

. . . sometimes we even let dad join in the springy fun . . .
. . . easter 1987 . . .

. . . when we finally had a boy
we went with un"girly" navy blue . . .
. . . easter 1989 . . .

. . . and the all-time matchy-matchy miracle . . .
. . . occurred without planning
at a halloween night
mhs football game . . .
. . . especially knowing how i feel about orange . . .
. . . hi lorelei! . . .
{apologies for scanned photos from the dark ages}

I think I have some of those same photos! (At least the bangs, the acid wash, the perms, the rafia and the matchy outfits.) Just the faces are different. :) Loved it. Thanks for sharing. It makes me want to get out the old photo albums.

wow....thanks for the memories. where did the time go so fast? and i must say....i'd love to see an updated family photo next year when drewsky comes home....all matchy matchy again....say October 31st. what a project for you!! i bet you could design black and orange beyond your wildest dreams. you could even glue candy corn on vests, etc. maybe perms will be the thing again too. wow...such things for you to dream and scheme about!

cute, cute, cute! I must say that I always knew Elliott looked like Drew, but Christmas 1989 makes me realize in that picture that Tagg looks like Drew!

Doily dresses!!! Thanks for the trip down memory lane. Jennifer says that SHE was the only kid in the neighborhood that had to wear Relief Society projects.

Addi = Amanda pt. 2. Amanda totally did an "Addi smile" in the fall 1990 picture. Ya know...the "pursed-lip smile". Sweet '80's/early 90's pics. I'm pretty positive that those hideous bangs will never, ever come back in style! Not cute.

OMG! I remember those eras. I actually have some of those same matchy photos. I will never forget the time the boys protested(literally) with "Mom, just say no to look alike Easter clothes." I should drag some of those out...pictures that is. Thanks, that was fun!

I love love love looking at old pictures! I totally relate to those "bangs to heaven!" - although my hair also had wings to get me there. Love, Cam

Like all the comments have said - Memory Lane for sure. Perms, matchy, matchy, then throwing a boy in there at the end, trying to coordinate a boy and the girls outfits. Cute and fun pictures!

O.K. It is time for Dad to take a little credit here. After all those years of "fluff", I will take credit for the fact that Drew did not become a little "light in the loafers"....if you know what I mean!!

Way to keep Drew grounded Bill!
