. . . rummaging through
those piles . . .
. . . i discovered this . . .
. . . one of several extra blocks
leftover from back in
februaryish/aprilish . . .
. . . i vaguely remembered
my plan to use these
on the back of the quilt . . .
. . . i always like to use up
extra blocks and scraps . . .
. . . so i started trying to figure out
how to put them together . . .
. . . then i got sidetracked,
remembered a reader's comment,
and made a label, too . . .
. . . the size of the label was based on
a scrap of inkjet printer fabric
i wanted to use . . .
. . . after printing it,
i took it into the sewing room
to cut it out, wet, and press it . . .
{be sure to follow directions on the package ~
and be warned that those labels don't stand up well to repeated washings.
and the printing has all but disappeared. darn!}
. . . anyway . . .
. . . i discovered i'd made the label
the exact size of the center square
in this block . . .
. . . and because
i'm a special kind of crazy
sometimes . . .
. . . this block now looks like . . .
{terrible nighttime photo}
. . . this . . .
{another terrible nighttime photo}
. . . a little un-sewing and re-sewing
never hurt anyone . . .
{a note about inkjet printer fabric: it comes in two colors -
"cream" and "white".
well . . . the "cream" is kind of a pinkish beige
and the "white" is kind of ivory.
my ocd-ness was kind of bugged by the fact that
neither color usually matches my quilts perfectly.
i had to get over it.}
