. . . outside my comfort zone . . .

. . . on my third geranium buying trip
to home depot last week,
after i'd finished up
the front yard planters
and front porch pots,
{that's forty red and forty white}
i was ready for a little change . . .
. . . for as long as i can remember,
i've used the hot pink variety
in pots around the pool . . .
. . . i'm still not sure
what exactly came over me
on wednesday . . .
. . . but, somehow these
pretty pretty salmony/coral lovelies
 came home with me . . .
{they really are not orange!}

. . . the bees and i just adore them . . .

{see the bee?}

. . . all that's left to do now
is add a little alyssum . . .
. . . i'm in love
with its lacy texture . . .
. . . and the weather forecast
tells me that by friday,
the expected high
should be about 81 degrees . . .
. . . or heaven, as i like to call it . . .

. . . did you know
it's impossible to kill rosemary? . . .
. . . well ~ so far, anyway . . .

. . . i've had that same plant
for about four years now . . .
. . . but that's a fresh crop
of flat leaf parsley,
sweet basil,
and cilantro . . .
. . . let's hope i remember
to use them . . .

. . . my hours in the sun this week
 earned me some great souvenirs . . .

•a red neck
{not to be confused with a redneck}
•faint flipflop tan lines
•and three super attractive cold sores
{or are they fever blisters?}
. . . kinda glad we don't go
to church today . . .
. . . just watch and listen . . .

. . . fall is a wonderful season . . .
. . . i really enjoy planting,
and growing . . .
. . . probably because
i think of my dad
every time i get dirt
under my nails . . .
. . . growing stuff was
one of his favorite things to do . . .
. . . i miss him . . .

I love the beautiful salmon colored geraniums. I live in northern Utah, so it's time to take my geraniums & alyssum out for the year. Enjoy your beautiful weather this week.

Geraniums, my favorite :) Have you tried greowing sage? I clip it in the Fall, let it dry, and use in my Thanksgiving stuffing.

I really, really like the color of those geraniums. Good choice. And I really, really miss grandpa too.
