. . . oh, look . . .
. . . there i am
at quilt group last week . . .
. . . when nedra was in charge
of taking pictures . . .
{well, i certainly can't take photos of myself!}
. . . i was working on row two . . .
{please note 44 oz. diet coke,
that fancy vent cover on the back of my machine ~
still not taking any chances with fresh black carbon particles!,
a stiletto to guide tiny squares through the feed dogs,
and an iPad for step by step tutorial instructions}
. . . row two is composed
of these cute butterfly blocks,
for which i had stayed up
till about two in the morning
cutting the pieces
so i'd be all ready to sew
the next day . . .
. . . as i was sewing,
i started to question my
late night/early morning
judgment . . .
. . . cheetah print bodies? . . .
. . . really? . . .
. . . for butterflies? . . .
. . . i was so confused . . .
. . . are they feline? . . .
. . . are they insect? . . .
. . . leave it to my good friend,
karen, to state the obvious . . .
karen, to state the obvious . . .
. . . "well, they started out
as CATerpillars,
didn't they?" . . .
. . . and just like that,
all was right
with the world . . .
. . . here're rows one and two . . .
. . . they won't necessarily
be next to each other
in the finished quilt . . .
. . . so they aren't sewn together . . .
{total number of pieces in row two: 115}

I really enjoy your quilt, I love to quilt!
So dang cute, as are all your quilts. I wanna quilt what you are quilting. Just saying
The butterflies are WAY too cute. But again....it seems like milking mice....takes way too much patience for me. But I sure do envy and celebrate your talents! Leave it to Karen to have the correct answer in a snap....but she is married to the walking encyclopedia.
Love your feline caterpillar stage butterfly bodies Steph.
Your sew day set up was so organized with everything at the ready...
and all of the necessities (i.e. ...ipad and 44 ouncer)
You get an A+ from the teacher!
I love those centers. And I told you that Lori would love them too!
